Abstract
Transcatheter arterial chemoembolizaion(TACE) is a useful alternative to surgery and systemic chemotherapy for inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma. The common adverse reaction observed following TACE is a postembolization syndrome which consists
of
abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting and leukocytosis. Hepatic abscess and septicemia have been reported to be rare complications.
We experienced a case of hepatic abscess following TACE for a huge hepatocellular carcinoma. Enterobacter cloacae was isolated from drainage of the abscess and the patient was recovered with antimicrobial therapy and percutaneous drainage of
abscess.
